The Akton Alliance is a confederation of communities and tribes living in the northwestern Boztun Badlands. <\/span>Its government is loosely based on that of the ancients of Meriga. <\/span>Although each town is free to run its own local government, they are all subject to the laws of the federal capital of Akton.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Prior to the founding of Akton, the badland tribes were being attacked by a group of cyborgs and true men known as the Reavers. <\/span>Entire villages had been put to the sword, and no one knew who would be next. The various tribes of the badlands and plains decided to form a task force in order to find and destroy the Reavers.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The task force was headed by the adventurers Arvak, Cal, Ragnor, and Skaane. <\/span>After making Fort Akton their headquarters, they decided to form a permanent settlement. <\/span>Cal had studied an ancient text on Merigan government and democracy, and drafted a constitution loosely based upon the ancient model. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Since its creation in 350 AC, Akton has had\u00a0two towns become full members of the alliance: New Solace and Conquered.\u00a0 New Solace and Fort Akton were later\u00a0politically merged\u00a0into a single community: Akton.\u00a0\u00a0Two tribes, the\u00a0Lex and the Klintok,\u00a0have become Tribal Allies.\u00a0 It is expected that the town of Alzwell will become a full member of the Alliance in the spring of 351 AC.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Akton\u2019s executive branch<\/em> of government consists of two Presidents. <\/span>Cal and Ragnor made themselves Presidents for life, but established that all future presidents would be elected by popular vote for 3 year terms. The Senate removed both <\/span>Presidents\u00a0from office via votes of no-confidence, due to their multiple personality disorders.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The legislative branch<\/em> consists of 5 Senators from akton, 2 Senators from each member community, and 1 Representative from each allied tribe. <\/span>Each senator is elected by popular vote by the citizens he or she represents. <\/span>Terms are for 5 years. <\/span>A Representative can be chosen in any way by his or her community.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The judicial branch<\/em> is a Tribunal of three Judges. <\/span>One is appointed by the Presidents, Two by the Senate. <\/span>They retain their office until they resign or are replaced.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
