Turn 69

Middex Armory, Security Room, Klos 4th, 350AC, 12:15

The female Programmer, Sega, wakes up and although very weak, is relieved and happy to see the other survivors.  She asks what happened, and all the Programmers start talking to each other (kind of noisy in this small, previously quiet room).

The Middex map is still up on the monitors.  You can see it in the maps section, but I’ll post it here also:

Phallon continues to search for the medkits, and Arvak joins him in the storage room.  Phallon search (14): 80 8 = yellow.  Arvak search (8): 6 6 = blue.  They find a metallic silver crate with the cross symbol (Arvak knows its an ancient healer sign).  Opening it up, they find a jumble of first aid kits, most of which have been opened, searched through, and thrown back in the crate.  Sorting it all out they find:

  • 30 first aid kits -containing bandages, ointments, antiseptics, latex gloves, etc.
  • 1 kit of surgical instruments, suture material, etc
  • 12 accelera doses
  • 7 anti-rad serums
  • 4 cur-in doses
  • 8 stim doses
  • 10 pain reducers

Your group heads back to the Security Room.  Arvak carries the passed out Programmer, while the others cover the halls and doorways with their weapons.  No encounters along the way.

The room is now getting a bit crowded, with 3 children and 4 adult Programmers taking refuge.  It is more comfortable for most of you to wait in the entry room.  Meyer is still on guard duty, and identifies the woman as “Sega”.  As the sleeping Programmers wake, there is some relief that someone else has survived.  Hopefully more people have escaped the ghool curse further inside…

Turn 67

Zeebo continues his last declared action of “hauling ass” to the western end of the mat.  He stops there.  His bow is lying on the ground nearby.

Sgt. Mats continues his flurry of punches.  1st one at Phallon, 2nd and 3rd ones at Arvak.  Arvak (now sped up) can try to defend all of them.  First strike (18): 2 2 = white, defend (16): 9 0 = orange.  Second strike (18): 3 9 = blue, defend (16): 1 6 = white.  Third strike (18): 0 7 = white, defend (16): 4 4 = blue.

Arvak’s kinetic negation (12): 4 9 = blue.  BD 8 -4ac = 4 -3kinetic negation = 1 point of stun damage.

Phallon drags the Programmer off the mat, assisted by Arvak.

Ragnor watches the door, no sign of ghoolz or anything else.  His shotgun is lying on the floor near the east edge of the mat.

Sgt. Mats straightens up from his combat stance.  “THIS MATCH is OVER!!  You SORRY pack of SISSIES scored TWO lousy points, with NO strikes thrown.  A BATTLE CANNOT BE WON if you NEVER GO ON THE OFFENSIVE!!!”

Sgt. Mats strikes Arvak twice (18): 0 7 = white.  (18): 7 9 = yellow hit.

Arvak defends (I’m picturing him holding his hammer just below its head with one hand, using it to block.  Then blocking with the other arm that has the orlen scale armor) first defend – even though its not needed (15): 8 5 = yellow.  Second defend (15): 9 8 = red.  Impressive block.

Zeebo spends the turn running across the room.  Burdened with a MV of 17, he makes it back to the southern end of the mat.

Phallon gets up and moves over to the Programmer and grabs onto her by the end of the turn.  He projects time distortion onto Arvak (10): 90 9 = red.  Arvak will get a total of 6 actions or moves, starting next turn.

Ragnor gets off the mat.

As Ragnor slowly rises to his feet, Phallon and Zeebo rush in to grab the Programmer.

Sgt. Mats, with uncanny speed, moves up to Phallon and Zeebo.  Arvak rushes to try to intercept, but his hooved feet sink into the padded mat, and slow him up (plus his initiative sucked : )

The Sgt. tries to pummel Zeebo with two quick punches (18): 0 7 = white.  Second strike (18): 7 9 = yellow hit.  Zeebo’s displacement (9): 5 8 = blue.  Zeebo disappears as a shimmering arm moves through where his head just was.  Zeebo poofs into existance in the southeast corner of the room.

Sgt. Mats then uses his third attack on Phallon (18): 9 8 = red.  He ducks down, grapples around Phallon’s waist/chest, and then swings him into the air, 180 degrees and slams him down onto the mat (WHAM).  BD 8 – 4ac = 4 x 5RF = 20 points of stun damage.  Hit points down to 91/71.

Phallon is on his back and stunned for the rest of the turn.  CN save (8): 70 0 = blue, so no further effects.

At the end of the turn, Arvak is just behind/next to Sgt. Mats.  Ragnor is now fully standing, and no longer stunned.

As Ragnor starts to sidestep, Sgt. Mats springs forward and lashes out at him with three strikes.  First strike is a roundhouse kick to the side of the head (18): 9 8 = red hit.

Ragnor didn’t declare any combat moves.  With the sudden attack, I’ll have him use defending.  He gets two rolls for the first two attacks.  First one (16): 40 1 = blue.  Not nearly quick enough.  The strike does stun damage only of BD 8 – 6ac = 2 x 5RF = 10 points of damageDown to 117/107 hp.  Ragnor’s PS save vs. slam (8): 20 1 = white so he is knocked sideways for 4 meters, falls over, and is stunned for the rest of the turn.  The red result requires a CN save (8): 30 1 = white, so Ragnor is stunned for next turn as well.

Second strike (18): 4 6 = green.  Ragnors defend (1/2 columns so 8): 80 0 = green, he blocks it.  Third strike (18): 1 8 = white.

Phallon moves through the training room, and gets up to Zeebo, ready to help grab the Programmer next round.

Zeebo looks at the Programmer for a moment, puts down his bow, draws his knife, and gets ready to grab the Programmer next round.

Sgt. Mats, who steps back a pace or two from a floored, dizzy Ragnor, shouts out, as if answering Arvak’s question, “AS you can SEE, HOSS, Ah am well schooled in the arts of KICKIN’ YOUR ASSES!!  Drunken Uncle style!  Now GET UP, unless you’re a QUITTER, SOLDIER!”

Zeebo has moved around to the west end of the mat.  Ragnor is now standing on the mat’s eastern end.  Sgt. Mats is in a combat stance, chest to the south.  He was focused on both Arvak and Zeebo, but now his attention seems to shift to Ragnor.

Ghool 2 grasps tightly onto Phallon’s calf with its one good hand (11): 60 0 = blue.  It tries to bite him (11): 40 1 = white.  It starts to glow with the eerie green-yellow light (X): 10 7 = white.

Ragnor loads 3 new shells into his shotgun, while Arvak moves the bunkbed out of the doorway. 

Phallon strikes at the ghool with his monoknife (-2CS for stuck ghool = 5): 90 4 = yellow.  The blade sweeps cleanly through its chest, causing foul fluid to bubble and spit from the wound.  Base damage of 9.  The ghool continues to function despite the punishment.  Phallon mental blasts it (10): 70 4 = blue5 points of damage.  It releases its grip, stops glowing, and fully collapses.

Phallon has to make a PS save to not fall down due to the weight of the ghool stuck to him (7): 90 2 = yellow.  Staying on his feet so far…

Zeebo moves quickly into the room.  Arvak enters the room second, followed by Ragnor.

Feathers continue to drift all about, getting in eyes, and nostrils (Phallon is outside of the cloud).

Ghool 1 grips Arvak (green hold), its teeth scrape their way to his neck and bite him (11): 90 2 = yellow.  BD 3 x 3RF = 9 points of damage.  (plus not so good special effect?)  Its body continues to glow and burn (X): 90 6 = orange.  BD 2 x 4RF = 8 points of damage.  Hit points now at 41.

Ghool 2 crawls towards Phallon, dragging various lame limbs.  It covers 2.5 meters and makes it just up to Phallon’s leg, reaching up at him with its one good clawed hand.

Ghool 3 holds on to Phallon and tries to move its head into a biting position (11): 50 8 = blue.  Needs a green so it remains stuck.  It glows and burns (X): 90 1 = orange.  BD 2 x 4RF = 8 points of damage.  Hit points now at 83.

Arvak tries to rip the ghool off and throw it (wrestling col 19): 0 9 = white.

Zeebo uses telekinesis (-2CS for obscured vision = 10): 9 4 = yellow.  The ghool is torn off of Arvak and held up against the wall, next to the doorway.  Ghool 2 is out of Zeebo’s sight.  With a slight shift of 5-10 degrees, Zeebo fires an arrow at ghool 1 (-2CS for obscured vision = 11): 9 7 = orange hit.  Base damage of 13.  The arrow drives through the center of its neck, only stopping when the arrow head hits the wall behind it.  The ghool goes limp, with lots of goo pouring down its chest.

Ragnor fires his shotgun a moment later.  CLACK.  It dry fires.  Ragnor pumps the slide mechanism and realizes its out of ammo.

Phallon tries to push the ghool off of him (8): 10 7 = white.  Weak slap.  He activates sun ray hands (12): 90 0 = yellow.  BD 12 x 3RF = 36 points of damage.  The ghool is fried and collapses, unfortunately becoming a big dead weight stuck to Phallon’s chest by the adhesive…

Phallon drops his pistol, outstretches his hand, and sprays adhesive goo all over the ghool’s head and face (14): 50 9 = blue.scrape

Ragnor moves a few paces south, and fires his shotgun at ghool 2 (20): 00 2 = white.  Holy crap!  The shot shreds the mattresses of the bed, blowing tons of feathers into the air.  Everyone in the room has reduced vision (-2CS to hit) and has to make a CN save to avoid sneezing fits.  Ragnor (8): 30 0 = white so a further -2CS to actions as he snorts feathers out his nose.  Zeebo (7): 0 0 = red.  Arvak (9): 7 2 = blue.

Zeebo dodges away from the ghool (13): 6 8 = green.  He uses telekinesis (-2CS for vision =10): 8 6 = yellow.  The ghool has to make a PS check (11): 40 7 = white.  It’s launched backwards into the feather cloud.  Everyone makes awareness rolls to see where it went.  Ragnor (16) 60 5 = green, Zeebo (8) 8 5 = green, Arvak (8) 8 4 = green, Phallon (14) 50 1 = blue.

The ghool is launched back into the training room and splats on the floor in a heap.  (Anyone in the room watching the door would see a blast of feathers, then the ghool, with feathers stuck to its previous wounds, fly into the room.)  With a useless arm, a crushed knee, and several arrows sticking out of it, it starts to crawl across the floor towards Phallon.  (The other PC’s can no longer see it from their current positions)

Ghool 1 attacks Arvak.  It grabs him in a wrestling hold (11): 80 1 = green.  Bites him (11): 60 9 = blue.  Its teeth scratch along his armored plate vest heading towards his neck (no damage yet).  It also glows and burns (X): 70 1 = yellow for 6 points of damage.  Down to 58 hit points.

Ghool 3 grabs onto Phallon (11): 60 3 = blue hold.  It has to make a PS check to open its adhesive filled mouth (11): 90 8 = red.  It bites Phallon (11): 70 9 = green.  Its teeth fail to penetrate his armored vest, but the attempt sticks the ghool’s face to Phallon’s chest (either one has to make PS checks to slide or seperate).  It glows and burns (X): 10 1 = white for no damage.

Arvak brings his hammer around (-2CS for ghool’s hold, -2CS for vision = 14): 9 6 = orange hit.  Base damage of 14.  The blow crushes ghool 1’s left hip, but it continues to attack.
