The Akton Alliance is a confederation of communities and tribes living in the northwestern Boztun Badlands. Its government is loosely based on that of the ancients of Meriga. Although each town is free to run its own local government, they are all subject to the laws of the federal capital of Akton.

Prior to the founding of Akton, the badland tribes were being attacked by a group of cyborgs and true men known as the Reavers. Entire villages had been put to the sword, and no one knew who would be next. The various tribes of the badlands and plains decided to form a task force in order to find and destroy the Reavers.

The task force was headed by the adventurers Arvak, Cal, Ragnor, and Skaane. After making Fort Akton their headquarters, they decided to form a permanent settlement. Cal had studied an ancient text on Merigan government and democracy, and drafted a constitution loosely based upon the ancient model.

Since its creation in 350 AC, Akton has had two towns become full members of the alliance: New Solace and Conquered.  New Solace and Fort Akton were later politically merged into a single community: Akton.  Two tribes, the Lex and the Klintok, have become Tribal Allies.  It is expected that the town of Alzwell will become a full member of the Alliance in the spring of 351 AC.

Akton’s executive branch of government consists of two Presidents. Cal and Ragnor made themselves Presidents for life, but established that all future presidents would be elected by popular vote for 3 year terms. The Senate removed both Presidents from office via votes of no-confidence, due to their multiple personality disorders.

The legislative branch consists of 5 Senators from akton, 2 Senators from each member community, and 1 Representative from each allied tribe. Each senator is elected by popular vote by the citizens he or she represents. Terms are for 5 years. A Representative can be chosen in any way by his or her community.

The judicial branch is a Tribunal of three Judges. One is appointed by the Presidents, Two by the Senate. They retain their office until they resign or are replaced.
