This ground was set aside to the northeast of Fort Akton. Soldiers and civilians from Akton have all been buried here since 350 AC. It has not been used for enemies of the alliance, who are generally dumped well outside of town. The lone exception was when Cal buried the severed head of the cyborg Krull, although that was later exhumed. Most of those buried here are wrapped in fibers or furs, then placed directly into the ground. Headstones are then set over the grave, either of stone, etched metal, or more recently of Alzwellian clay.

Other Alliance members’ burial customs
Klintok tribesmen perform a ritual over their dead, then slide them off a plank, into Komodo Valley.
Alzwellians place their dead into a large ceramic urn, then bury it upright in the ground.
Radioactivists will cremate their dead, preferably in a holy site with radioactivity. They are not concerned with the ashes (which usually remain at the site), only with the dead becoming one with the glow.
Conquered used to put their dead into the compost pit. The Norfo have put an end to this practice. Traditionally, the Norfo (and the Lex) will dress their dead in ceremonial clothing, then lay them out on the badlands, often on rock slabs. The elements and fungal creatures will “remove” the bodies over time. The Norfo’s Mistress of Ceremonies will often later arrange leftover bones in certain patterns, or may use some of them for spiritual purposes.
