Akton History
(all dates are in AC)
7th Yep, 350 The Gathering
Entire villages within the badlands had been destroyed, their inhabitants slaughtered. Survivors reported that cyborgs were involved. One week after the fall equinox (and many tribes’ harvest festivals), the tribes of the northern nu engelin plains and the nearby badlands hold a meeting. They pledge men and supplies to form a task force to identify and stop the menace. The heroes Arvak, Cal, Ragnor, and Skaane are given command of the task force, and are sent to secure Fort Akton, their future headquarters.
15th Yep, 350 Heroes arrive at Fort Akton to find it garrisoned by badders. They assault the fort, and despite a well organized defense, defeat the badders and claim the site.
Mid Yep, 350 Task force members arrive from all the other tribes. The heroes organize them, and work to repair the Fort. They determine to mold it into a permanent settlement based on democracy and trade. The Constitution of Akton is written. Cal and Ragnor are established as Presidents.
21st Yep, 350 Akton Games. Everyone competes in mock combat events to show their skills and learn about everyone in the team. The heroes realize each tribe is wary of the others, so they mix together different tribes in each military unit, and assign sergeants from those who excelled in the games. Afterwards, everyone votes to elect Akton’s first Senators. Scouts are sent out to explore and map the lands around Fort Akton.
24th Yep, 350 Scouts locate the installation of Middex. Heroes infiltrate and meet the Programmers.
25th Yep, 350 Heroes help the Programmers clear Middex of rogue live metal in exchange for ancient weaponry and artifacts. Ragnor arranges for Akton and Middex to trade goods and services, allowing Travis the Nerd and a computer to be stationed at Fort Akton. Middex pledges to join the alliance if the heroes bring them the data disk of their former leader, Captain Wizard.
Early Holsar, 350 Many of the heroes recover from radiation poisoning they suffered at Middex. Cal reorganizes the army, and equips the troops with ancient weaponry. Ramil of the klintok is made Captain. Arvak arranges for several Healers to join the alliance. He also brings a caravan of Alzwellian craftsmen to Akton, who start repairing the defenses and constructing new buildings.
17th Holsar, 350 Scouts spot the last surviving Norfo tribe being pursued and cut down by the Reavers. The Akton heroes and the army rescue them, and in a vicious fight, manage to kill the Reaver cyborg, Krull. One true man Reaver is captured, leading to much valuable information.
18th Holsar, 350 During the night, Cal’s cyborg programming activates his alter ego “Calibraxis”. He quietly assassinates Franizzy, and releases the captured Reaver.
Late Holsar, 350 The Tull Norfo tribe are allowed to settle in Akton. A new village of adobe huts is constructed at the foot of Fort Akton, and named “New Solace”. “Calibraxis” activates one night, and silently kills Sgt. Bruce in his bed.
30th Holsar, 350 Heroes battle the Stoo Shrooms and obtain food grade mushrooms (and poisonous ones) from a cave within the klintok lands.
3rd Dabbar, 350 Raiders from nearby Big Ax (hoops riding chowzers, a type of evil mutant hamster) attack village at night, killing 5 norfo (including their elder and two infants) before being driven away. (game note: “Calibraxis” was activated and assassinated Ramikin the elder during all the chaos)
4th Dabbar, 350 Heroes scout out village of Big Ax at night, but are discovered and forced to retreat.
6th Dabbar, 350 A contingent of badders led by Lord Frall arrives at Akton with several prisoners, and their allies from Big Ax. They demand loyalty and tribute to the badder king. The heroes of Akton delay them with diplomacy, and are then able to infiltrate the badder camp and free the prisoners.
7th Dabbar, 350 The furious badders march upon the village of New Solace, but are forced to retreat by an explosive counter attack. As the heroes recuperate, President Cal’s alter ego, Calibraxis, is triggered by the Reavers and tries to kill President Ragnor. Although Joe Holyoak is killed, the attempt is foiled and Calibraxis captured.
12th Dabbar, 350 Dr. John Trapper (healer), Crazy Dave (robotics), and Commander Mensa (programmer from Middex) perform a surgery to remove the cybernetic programs from Calibraxis. He survives and remains in prison awaiting trial.
16th Dabbar, 350 Trial of Calibraxis for treason and murder. The Tribunal establishes that Cal was not in control of himself, but responsible for hiding his condition from the people. He is stripped of office, given fines, and kept in prison another week. Calibraxis (the “cyborg personality”) is declared dead, the person who remains is simply “Cal”.
26-27th Dabbar, 350 The heroes explore the Valley of the Komodo, in an effort to find Captain Wizard’s body. After fleeing from a huge komodo and getting radiation poisoning, they retreat home to escape hordes of army ants.
29th Dabbar, 350 Battle of Conquered
Radioactivist enforcers from the Conquered capture a group of fishermen from Akton (killing one young girl). The heroes call up the entire army and storm the fortress of Conquered. In pitched battle, they slay The Deacon and most of his enforcers. The community is annexed into the Akton Alliance.
In the following days, the Tull Norfo tribe moves into the Conquered fortress for additional security. The Radioactivist believers are moved into the village of New Solace (partly so Akton can keep a close watch on them). Skaane leaves Akton in his quest to find his queen. Dr. Zeebo the adventuring apothecary arrives.
1st Frerhar, 350 On the winter solstice, the citizens of Akton have their first presidential election to replace Calibraxis’s position. With 5 nominees, and a tie requiring a run-off election, Gaal Lont is elected president.
3rd Frerhar, 350 Reavers raid Alzwell, 23 citizens killed.
4th Frerhar, 350 Reavers drive the Lex from their winter camp, and shoot down the queen’s battlepod. Heroes and army of Akton battle the Reavers, and rescue Queen Lexanna and her royal guard. Cal is killed by the cyborgs.
7-8th Frerhar, 350 Arvak and Dr. Zeebo lead a team into numerous ruins, searching for the Reavers. They defeat a tribe of fish-like Ikkos, a group of arenabots, and befriend the green folk of Ayden.
9th Frerhar, 350 Battle of Reaming Arena
The heroes of Akton locate the Reavers’ base in the Reaming Arena. Although the cyborgs escape, their true men allies are killed, and the base taken.
