Turn 88

Middex Armory, Main Hallway, Klos 4th, 350AC, 13:17

Arvak, Ragnor, and Phallon are in the hall debating their next move.  Arvak suggested waiting 10-15 minutes.  Ragnor suggested moving into the lower room.  Phallon suggested trying to lure the ghoolz through the door, then closing it to block off the live metal man (see end of turn 87 comments).

Phallon hits the door’s open button.  The door quietly slides to the side, showing the following:

The ghool near the door jerks forward to attack.

Initiative:

  • Phallon 7 + 2 =9
  • Live Metal 2 + 3 = 5
  • Ragnor 2 + 2 = 4
  • Arvak 2 + 1 = 3

Turn 86

Middex Armory, Entry Room, Klos 4th, 350AC, 13:11

Arvak, Phallon, and Ragnor have collected themselves and some equipment.  They are just outside of the security room which contains all the rescued survivors.  Each hero sports a Middex ID card clipped to his clothing (Arvak and Ragnor have their own personaly made IDs, Phallon’s is pillaged).  Arvak has his usual massive warhammer.  Phallon has a combat shotgun and a knife.  Ragnor has his battle ax.

Zeebo still has not shown up.  The Armory is quiet.

What next?

P.S.  Phallon can now use most of his mutations as it has been over an hour in game time since using Adhesive Secretion, Sun Ray Hands, and Time Distortion.  Fear Generation is 1/min and Mental Blast every 3 turns, so those are available.  The only one he can’t use is Astral Walk.  Note: that hour of game time started in February, oh yeah!!!!!

Turn 85

Arvak, Phallon, and Ragnor stand in the hall next to the closed door.  The scratching on the other side of the door continues for a moment, then stops.  The hallway is now very quiet.

As Arvak drags Ragnor and Phallon down the hall, the ghoolz (numbers 1,2,5) slowly rise to their feet, then quickly move down the hall after our heroes.   Arvak passes through the eastern doorway, and closes the door.  The map below is the last view he has of the hall:  the dead-eyed ghoolz heading for him.

Ragnor and Phallon are lying on the floor, unconscious.  Their shotgun, heavy pistol, and monoknife are still out in the hall near the “dead” ghoolz and the live metal man, who didn’t move or act this turn.

Game note:  Ragnor’s roll for knockout duration was low, so he is only out for a total of 50 seconds (which would be 5 turns of combat).  Since we’re not in a combat anymore, he will be waking up and can act in Turn 85.  Phallon is still KO’d at this point.

Turn 83

Arvak reaches down and grips his fallen comrades.  The live metal man takes a step forward, then stops.  After a moment, its deep electronic voice says “Private, remove these prisoners from this restricted area, and secure them for processing.”  As Arvak slowly drags Ragnor and Phallon backwards down the hall, he sees (awareness roll col 8: 7 6 = blue) that the ghoolz are starting to twitch and stir.

Turn 82

Phallon tries to shift the grappling ghool so it is between him and the live metal man (9): 50 4 = blue result.  Success!  He also mental blasts it (10): 10 1 = white.

A tubular structure pivots from the live metal man’s back to its shoulder, and points down the hallway.  A mini-missile launches (X): 5 6 = green result.  The missile flies past everyone and detonates against the eastern door.   Ffffffffffffffffshhhhhhhhhhhh   WUUUMMMP!!!  The shockwave washes over all of you, causing 4 points of damage and everyone has to make a CN save vs. knockout.

  • Arvak (9): 8 2 = green result, still conscious, hp at 58
  • Phallon (8): 20 6 = white.  He blacks out, hp at 89
  • Ragnor (8): 10 0 = white, gonzo, hp at 91

Phallon, Ragnor, and the three ghoolz go limp and collapse to the ground.  Arvak withstands the shockwave, and bodyslams the now unresisting ghool (19 + 1RS):   7 6 = yellow +1RS to an orange result.  Base damage of 7, plus the slam dislocates one of its arms.  It releases it hold.

At the end of the round, the hall is full of bodies.  Arvak is lying on top of an unmoving ghool.  The live metal man stands at the west end of the hall.
