Sawed-off shotguns always get an attack roll against each target in their firing arc. Regular shotguns (including combat shotguns) could also cause damage to multiple targets in certain situations such as:
- firing at creatures who are wrestling each other
- firing at a target who is holding a hostage
- firing at creatures in hand to hand combat from a distance or poor angle
In these situations, the combat operator makes his usual attack roll against a single chosen target. If the roll is a hit, he makes a second roll to see if the adjacent target is hit as well (Rank modified by shotgun skill only -no +3CS or other modifiers).
- black = green result on adjacent target
- white = blue result on adjacent target
- blue or better = no damage on adjacent target
If the initial shotgun attack is a miss, then the attacker still makes a second roll as above, but on the following table:
- black = attacker makes a standard shotgun attack roll against the adjacent target, with white and black results equaling a blue hit.
- white or blue = blue result on adjacent target
- green or better = no damage on adjacent target
