Adventure Two, Twentieth Turn

Phallon enters into a trance, and all is quiet.  The sky is turning red and the shadows are lengthening.  The air starts to get a little crisper and the sun sets.  What now?

Adventure Two, Nineteenth Turn

The sun is getting low in the sky to the west (your left), yet its orange-yellow rays gleam off the snow.  The chowzer moves ahead in quick effortless bursts, between which it waits for your shuffling group to catch up.  You all head up a slight hill, and find yourselves on the top of a low ridge.  The ridge continues along to the east and ascends  up to a hilltop, but the chowzer sits down here and points to the north.  “Cheeek’k eh eh ep!”

Squinting and looking north, you can see the remainder of your foes.  The chowzers are on the east side of the river, the hoops on the west.  Both groups are heading north along the river.  (Note: the hill to the northeast in the following sketch is about 3 miles away)

Adventure Two, Eighteenth Turn

The hoops, wounded and beset upon by many enemies and their former ally, turn and flee.  Several leap from the bridge, across the chasm into D1.  They are jumping and bouncing all over the place, essentially dodging.

Ragnor runs forward (17 meters) onto the bridge, but never gets the hoops into life leech range.

Zeebo moves forward 9 meters, and fires an arrow at hoop 1.  Hoop 1 dodges (15): 20 0 = white.  The attack (13): 6 3 = blue.  (Edited from initial posting: Needs a green due to medium range, so the shot misses.)

Phallon fires his laser pistol at hoop 4.  Hoop 4 dodges (15): 50 0 = blue.  The attack (8): 30 0 = white.  Phallon also mental blasts hoop 3 (10): 30 6 = white.

The chowzer chases and snaps at hoop 2.  Hoop 2 dodge (15): 00 6 = white.  The attack (19): 0 4 = white.  Its powerful incisors clack into empty air.  The chowzer looks like its going to break off its pursuit.

Arvak leaps to his feet, and realizes his hammer is not around.  He makes a roll on his dependency defect (9): 8 7 = green.  No penalty at this time.  He charges hoop 4 (who leaps the chasm) but never gets into melee range.

Combat is essentially over, but here’s initiative for those of you trying to plug a last fleeing bad guy…

Adventure Two, Seventeenth Turn

Ragnor, shrugging off a stunning hit, pumps the slide on his shotgun and fires away at the choo-wug (20): 70 0 = yellow + 1RF = orange hit.  BD 18 – 2ac = 16 x 4RF = 64 points of damageBLAMMM!!  The blast catches the choo-wug right through the chest, puffing up a fine red mist, and it slowly collapses into the stained snow.

Arvak, lying on the ground, takes the last grenade from his belt, pulls the pin, and lobs it onto the bridge.  Throwing (15): 0 8 = white.  It lands off target and bounces on the bridge’s hard pavement 8 meters to the 5 0′ clock position of its intended target, and detonates.  Hoops 3 and 4 are in range for its shrapnel.  At hoop 3 (X): 4 3 = green.  BD 8 – 2ac = 6 x 2RF = 12 points of damage and stunned.  Hoop 4 (X): 5 6 = green.  Likewise 12 points of damage and stunned.  Both hoops are hurt but not out of the action yet.

Zeebo trudges 17m towards the bridge and fires his bow at hoop 1, who is at medium range (13): 8 9 = yellow (-1RF due to range).  BD 13 – 2ac = 11 x 2RF = 22 points of damage.  A good hit, the hoop is in pain.

Phallon uses an accelera dose on himself, for 4d10 healing: 9 4 3 9 = 25 points restored.  Phallon now at 45 hit points.  He uses fear generation on hoop 1 (14): 50 1 = blue.  Hoop 1 gets a MS save on the fear table (16): 50 3 = green.  The hoop is having tremors, and is at -5CS for attacks or any DX related actions.

The hoops, suddenly wounded, many stunned, one fearful, fire their bows.  Hoop 1 fires at Ragnor (10): 50 0 = white.  His hands are now so unsteady with fright, that the shot goes high.  Hoop 2 fires at chowzer 1 (15): 10 4 = white.  Hoop 3 fires at chowzer 1 (8): 50 3 = white.  Hoop 4 fires at Phallon (8): 40 3 = white.

Chowzer 1, protecting Phallon, charges forward at hoop 2 (who fired at Phallon last turn) and attempts a body slam (19): 7 4 = yellow.  BD 10 – 2ac = 8 x 3RF = 24 points of damage.  Hoop makes a PS save vs. slam (15): 80 8 = yellow.  Avoids the slam effect.

Adventure Two, Sixteenth Turn

As chowzer 3 becomes a distant target, Zeebo attempts to stop him one last time.  Telekinesis needs a red at this range (12): 9 1 = yellow.  Fires his bow, needs a yellow to hit (13): 9 0 = yellow“New” rule I created awhile ago and had written into the adventure for a future event: If someone is at long range (or greater) from a non-powered missile, and can see it coming at them, they get a +1RF on dodge.  Chowzer 3 tries to dodge (17): 6 6 = green + 1 RF = yellow.  The chowzer, seeing an arrow in flight with its name on it, changes direction and avoids the hit.  (Todd, just to let you know, a yellow hit wouldn’t have quite killed the chowzer.  Now a red hit from the likes of Beezer, that would have done it…)  The chowzer is effectively gone, along with Zeebo’s stuff.  That rat-shit bastard!

The hoops fire their bows.  Targets 1-4 Ragnor, 5-8 Phallon, 9-0 Chowzer 1): 0, 7, 8, 10

Hoop 1 fires at chowzer 1 (15): 30 3 = white.

Hoop 2 fires at Phallon (15): 70 0 = green.  BD 8 – 4ac = 4 x 2RF = 8 points of damageHp down to 20.

Hoop 3 fires at Phallon (15): 00 8 = white.  (kind of freaked out when the first dice hit “00”)

Hoop 4 fires at Ragnor (15): 10 9 = white.

Choo-wug 2 charges Ragnor (essentially chases him as he retreated) and tries to belt him again with its morning star (16): 90 1 = orange hit.  BD 15 – 6 = 9 x 4RF = 36 points of damage.  Ragnor down to 46 hp and stunned for the turn.

Phallon whips a stimdose out of his pack (the only PC to not dump his?) and injects it into Arvak.  Its uber-caffeine-like properties jolt Arvak from his senselessness.  As the white spots fizzle and fade from his vision, he takes in the scene around him.  He will get a normal initiative next turn (lying on his back, feet towards the bridge, + 1PS and CN for an hour).

Chowzer 2 dives forward to attack, but chowzer 1 is defending Phallon and counter-attacks.  Initiative tie breakers are in order.

Chowzer 2 (the “shit-brick”) attacks chowzer 1 (19): 6 7 = yellow.  BD 9 – 2ac = 7 x 3 RF = 21.  Fur flies and blood flows, but chowzer 1 hangs on.

Chowzer 1 (the “good one”) strikes back (19): 4 8 = green.  BD 9 – 2ac = 7 x 2 RF = 14.  Phallon’s chowzer latches onto its targets throat and rips it out.  MORE BLOOD!!!  Chowzer 2 is dead and messy.

Ragnor, dazed and in a blur, fires his shotgun.  Stunned so (10): 10 7 = white.  BLAM, the gun follows the twist and recoil of his body and goes way wide.

Adventure Two, Fifteenth Turn

Zeebo uses telekinesis and tries to stop the fleeing chowzer.  Base range is 15 meters, so he needs a yellow (12): 7 3 = green.  The distance is too great.  Zeebo fires his bow (13): 7 8 = green.  BD 13 -2ac = 11 x 2RF = 22 points of damage.  The chowzer is hurt, but keeps on running.

Phallon, still stunned by the late choo-wug’s blow, struggles to his feet, and tries to mental blast (5): 50 1 = white.  (Stun effect wears off for next turn).

Chowzer 1, under the loyalty touch effect, paces back and forth in front of Phallon and snarls back at the hoops on the bridge.

Chowzer 2 continues to chew on Ragnor (19): 00 8 = white, but + 1RS from last turn’s attack = blue result.  Armor at that point counts as 1 less.  BD 9 – 5ac = 4 points of damagehp down to 86.

Chowzer 3 continues to run away at high speed.  It starts to look back over its own shoulder in case it needs to dodge more arrows.

Chowzer 4 also runs away, and is now effectively off the map.

The hoops start yelling in an unfamiliar language.  One of them is gesturing violently at chowzer 1.  The others are side-stepping or hopping high into the air to try to get a clear shot at a target.  One fires at Phallon.  One at Ragnor.  The others don’t have a good shot this turn.

Choo-wug 2, with crazed pink-red eyes, attacks Ragnor again with its morning star (16): 10 9 = white.

Ragnor runs 17 meters into B3.  He regenerates (11): 70 0 = blue.  The burning pain lifts, and his right arm returns to normal function!

Zeebo uses telekinesis to push chowzer 3 away from him (12): 0 1 = black.  Hmmm, what happens: 1 “sprains” power for a day, 2 launches chowzer at himself, 3 launches himself in a random direction, 4 launches his own bow away, 5 plants himself in the ground/snow, 6 nothing.  Die roll = 3.  Using the grenade table, Zeebo accidently slides himself along the snowy ground about 10 meters to the 5-o’-clock of his position.

Zeebo, using dual brain, also fires an arrow (13): 0 9 = white.

Phallon attempts loyalty touch on chowzer 1 (11): 80 9 = yellow.  (Results coming up on the chowzer’s action)  He also fires his laser pistol at choo-wug 1, + 2CS as he is firing from a supine position (10): 90 5 = orange + 1RF for laser.  BD 10 – 2ac = 8 x 5RF = 40 points of damage.  A wicked looking shot, which lances into its chest, filling the air with the smell of burning flesh.  It shrieks in pain.

The hoops advance a few paces (boing boing).  Their prior targets are not available as their own allies are blocking the shots.  They all fire at Zeebo.  Hoop 1 (15): 40 4 = blue.  Hoop 2 (15): 30 6 = white.  Hoop 3 (15): 20 4 = white.  Hoop 4 (15): 80 1 = yellow.    Zeebo rolls displacement (9): 9 9 = red.  He blinks out, and appears 60 meters further south (8-0′-clock of his previous position).

Choo-wug 1 tries to split Phallon in two with its battle ax.  Phallon is still lying on his back on the ground, so the attack is at +2CS.  (18): 80 6 = orange hit.  BD 13 – 4ac = 9 x 4RF = 36 points of damage.  Phallon down to 32 hit points.  PS save vs. slam (7): 10 6 = white.  Maybe crushed deeper into the snow, but otherwise the effect is stunned for next turn (1/2 actions).

Choo-wug 2 swings its morning star around and again tries to belt Ragnor with it (16): 70 0 = green hit.  Ragnor is defending AND life leeching, but doesn’t have dual brain, etc.  I think I’ll allow these sorts of actions with each roll at 1/2 columns.  The defending roll (5): 00 0 = red!  Ragnor masterfully deflects the path of the heavy spiked ball, using the barrel of his shotgun with his LEFT hand.  It was done so perfectly, that the shotgun sustains no damage.

Chowzer 1 makes a MS save vs. loyalty touch (17): 3 8 = blue, needed an orange.  It turns and attacks choo-wug 1.  (19): 6 6 = yellow.  BD 9 – 2ac = 7 x 3RF = 21 points of damage.  Choo-wug 1, not expecting the attack, has its throat chewed open and it collapses, blood flowing onto the snow, with the chowzer latched on and gnawing away.  Yuck!

Chowzer 2 starts circling Ragnor (to keep Ragnor between itself and the choo-wug, gets +1CS) and attacks.  (20): 6 8 = yellow.  BD 9 – 6ac = 3 x 3RF = 9 points of damage.  Down to 78 hit points.  The chowzer also latches onto him and starts to gnaw (attack bonuses on upcoming turns).

Chowzer 3 rapidly runs across the snow, grabs Zeebo’s backpack and crams it into its mouth.  The whole pack dissapears and the chowzers cheek is now bulging.  See below pic where Hammy demonstrates using a carrot that represents Zeebo’s stuff.  The chowzer starts to run away…

Ragnor life leeches at 1/2 columns vs. chowzer 2, choo-wug 2, arvak (6): 80 080 4, 30 2.  Ragnor gains 12 hit points (again not from arvak!), back up to 90.

Adventure Two, Thirteenth Turn

Evil rodent enemies are jumping, bounding, and running in and out of the fracas!

The hoops, shrugging off the stars from the grenade attack, leap over the walls and advance to the center of the bridge.  They crouch down, some taking a little cover at the guard-rails, and fire their bows (targets now at short range) selection: 1-5 Phallon, 6-9 Ragnor, 0 Zeebo: 6, 3, 4, 90)

Hoop 1 at Ragnor (15): 50 8 = green.  BD 8 – 6ac = 2 x 2RF = 4 points of damage.  Ragnor down to 113 hp.

Hoop 2 at Phallon (15): 70 6 = yellow.  BD 8 – 4ac = 4 x 3 RF = 12 points of damage.  Phallon down to 95 hp.

Hoop 3 at Phallon (15): 20 9 = white.

Hoop 4 at Ragnor (15): 90 2 = orange8 points of damage.  Ragnor at 105 hp.

Choo-wug 1 (dark brown fur) charges across the bridge and attacks Phallon with his battle ax.  The attack (16): 70 8 = yellow.  BD 13 – 4ac = 9 x 3RF =27 points of damage.  Phallon at 68 hp.  Phallon PS save vs slam (7): 30 5 = white.  He is slammed: he flies backwards about 7 meters and lands on the ground, stunned.

Choo-wug 2 (white, brown, tan and red eyes) also charges forward and tries to pound Ragnor with its morning star.  The attack (16): 90 8 = red.  BD 15 – 6ac = 9 x 5RF = 45 points of damage.  Ragnor down to 60 hit points.  The blow stuns him, and he makes a CN save to avoid complications.  (8): 00 2 = black.  Second roll on the complications C table (8): 00 8 = white = cripple result.  Attack roll on the cripple table (14): 00 5 = white so suffers a sprain.  (limb table result = dominant arm).  Ragnor’s right arm takes a pounding and he cannot use it beyond simple weak actions for “awhile”.

Zeebo fires an arrow at chowzer 1 (13): 8 0 = yellow hit.  BD 13 – 2ac = 11 x 3RF = 33 points of damage.  It shrieks as the arrow sticks into its side; that hurt it a lot!

Ragnor, right arm hanging limply, life leeches.  Targets are 4 chowzers, 2 choo-wugs, and Arvak (Phallon would have been in the area by this point, but he was knocked back out).  Life leech rolls at half due to “stunned”, needs a 60 0 to hit (6): 60 3, 90 2, 00 9, 60 7, 90 9, 80 6, 40 6.  Ragnor gains 30 hit points (3 chowzers, 2 choo-wugs drained, Arvak not affected)  Ragnor’s hp up to 90.

Chowzer 1 scrambles up to Phallon, who tries to grab him for “loyalty touch”, 1/2 columns due to stunned (6): 50 1 = white.  No contact, could try again next turn…  The chowzer tries to chew Phallon’s throat out (19): 1 1 = white.

Chowzer 2, bleeding from shotgun pellets, makes his morale roll, and attacks Ragnor (19): 3 5 = blue hit.  BD 9 – 6ac = 3 points of damageHp down to 87.

Chowzer 3 rushes up to Zeebo and tries to body slam him (19): 0 8 = white.

Chowzer 4 bites onto Arvak’s hammer by the handle, lifts it from the ground, and starts to run away across the snow.  Anyone watching would be impressed by the chowzer’s mighty neck and jaw muscles.
