Turn 135

Middex Armory, Armory Entrance, Klos 4th, 350 AC, 16:32

Phallon and Ragnor stand in the mopped up entry room.  They start to feel a cold breeze from outside, and can hear Arvak’s distinct voice talking from down the hall.  This room is now clean, but there is a big stack of wreckage along the east wall that could be contaminated.  This could be a problem if the Programmers come into contact with it.   The metal desk/counter here has a computer built into it which is operating.  The door to the security room on the south wall has its red “locked” light on.

Arvak and Zeebo contemplate the ramp: littered with a few charred skeletons and a tattered uniform which likely was worn by a now dusted ghool.  Most of the sheets/blankets in the base are back in infected areas so not a good option.  Zeebo’s memory roll (8): 1 4 = white.  Arvak’s memory roll (8) 8 3 = green.  One of the Programmers has Ragnor’s blanket.  He thinks he remembers  wrapped around Sara the infant.  Hmmm, that baby was in a storage crate made into a crib.  The security room has a couple of mattresses and a bunch of storage crates that could come in handy, and that room is free of contamination…

Turn 134

Middex Armory, Armory Entrance, Klos 4th, 350 AC, 16:30

Zeebo mops his way through the entry room, removing the blood spatters and streaks along the floor.  He continues down the hallway and up to the front door.  Ragnor pockets the ancient metal pens, and he and Phallon stay in the entry room for now.  Arvak removes his tattered red cloak and adds it to the pile of rubble.  He then heads down the hall and meets up with Zeebo as he finishes mopping around the front door.

Zeebo triggers the open button, and with a deep hum, the solid front door slides open.  Cold wintery air blasts in, creating ripples in clothing, and ruffling Zeebo’s tangled white hair, and Arvak’s mane.  Zeebo heads forward to mop the ramp, but realizes there are charred skeletons, and an empty tattered Programmers uniform on the ramp.  These will have to be moved to properly clean the ramp.

The soldiers of X-Squad sit 40 meters to the south in the foxholes they’ve dug out of the snow.  The Kit-Karson Scout unit is about 10 meters to the east, and they too have dug themselves into foxholes.  Some of the soldiers watch the ramp, others are watching out and away from the armory.  Cam Era shouts out, “Champion, are we cleared to enter?”

Turn 133

Middex Armory, Entry/Front Desk, Klos 4th, 350 AC, 16:25

The debris from the ex-office room is stacked up in the entry room to the south.  The ex-office is mopped with the virolyze until it shines.

So far, the consensus is to leave the salvage as it may be contaminated, with a few exceptions:  Zeebo is thinking about cleaning the ceramic mugs, and Ragnor is thinking about keeping some ancient pens.  (Most of the pens are made of soft plastic, but there are 2 made of silvery metal)  These items are currently a bit dirty, but you could dunk & clean them in the virolyze.

Turn 132

middex3Middex Armory, Ex-Office, Klos 4th, 350 AC, 16:10

With the goo cleared away from the door, Phallon hits the close button.  A whirring noise is heard, the door vibrates a bit, but is having trouble.  Arvak uses his telekinesis (14): 8 1 = yellow.  The door slides out from the wall.  With what sounds like dying machinery, it closes off the room of rendering with a nasty splurchy sound.

Zeebo has cleaned all the way to the upper office room, but there is a whole bunch of ruined office furniture and computer parts (see description in last post) that he can’t simply mop the virolyze over.  Will he mop paths around this crap (which won’t really sterilize the room), or move/dump it somewhere?

Ragnor talks to the Programmers about Akton, how each member group can join and contribute without losing their own identity, and how they could use their skills and abilities to contribute and survive.  He gets to make a storytelling/persuasion type roll to see how effective his speech is.  Rank 7 + 2CS IN (would normally be CH, but not for Programmers) + slight bonus of 2CS for diplomacy talent = (11): 10 0 = white

Although the Programmers understand the basic principles, many seem confused or shocked that they might have to actually pick up a tool, as opposed to click an icon to make an imaginary person pick up a virtual tool.  They also seem shocked that they won’t have access to their multitude of computer parts and comfy chairs.  Ragnor feels that they have been listening, and maybe half understand.  But there isn’t any enthusiasm or acceptance right now.  Of course without any food, they don’t have many choices…

What next?
