Zeebo, after freaking out the Programmers, tries to explain his way out of it (see last turn). In most societies this would not work at all, however with the Programmers, you make IN checks instead of CH checks (awkward logic beats cool charisma). Zeebo’s roll to regain some lost stature (Rank 6 + 2IN – 2CS sickness = 6): 0 0 = red. The Programmers relax a bit, although those who’ve witnessed people being eaten by ghoolz in the last few days are probably still a bit distressed. Jackson says “I think you miscalculated because I wasn’t kidding. We do have to shoot you if you pass out so you won’t turn into a ghool. We’re under orders!”
Zelda (who no longer looks impressed) says, “Orders of the Inner Circle. No exceptions. You and your team need to either sterilize the base or get us to safety. Then we can use the BioCur. You only have hours, maybe minutes now, so you should hurry.”
Arvak sits down and spins a tale of the glorious Champions. Oddly, a number of adult Programmers scoot up and listen intently. Arvak notices a few of them have tear streaks on their faces (male and female alike). Storytelling (14): 0 9 = white. Although the Programmers are very familiar with heros and quests, they are more concerned with gaining points, treasures, and making it to the next level. Glory for its own sake, and REAL danger as opposed to simulated, is a foreign concept for them. The tale falls flat, but it does occupy them after Zeebo’s gaff.
