Pre-Turn 1

Fort Akton, month of Frerhar, 350 AC (roughly equivalent to December)

After the battle of Reaming Arena, the three cyborg Reavers have not been seen.  The captured supplies were added to Akton’s own.  With careful rationing, the people of Akton and Conquered should have enough food to get through the winter. Those killed in battle have all been buried in the town cemetery.  Tough work as the ground was beginning to freeze.

The month is cold, and bitter winds sweep through the badlands.  There are occasional storms bringing snow and ice.  Most of the plant creatures of the badlands have gone dormant until the spring.  Tribesmen have hunkered down in winter camps.  Merchants are no longer seen on the trade routes, as a single storm could make the roads impassable.

Idle farmers and hunters are recruited to assist the alzwellian craftsmen on various construction projects.  The grand market, haven inn, barter house, metalsmithy, and the champion tower are all completed this month.

The Presidents (Ragnor and Gaal Lont) appoint Silas (the ex-caravan master) as Secretary of Trade & Reclamation.  The Nu Engelin Trading Company (NET-Co) is created, headed by Silas.  Using designated army units, and hired civilians, the company starts salvaging the nearby ruins for metal, c-mint, and artifacts.  These items are being sold in the local markets, but a caravan will be created for export in the spring.

The Presidents establish the Department of Research & Design, headed by their appointed Secretary of Archives, Travis the Nerd.  Dr. Zeebo, Crazy Dave, Morra the tinker, and Nulbo the gardener are all essential to the department.  Artifacts salvaged by NET-Co all go to R&D first.  Those not kept for the government or community can be sold by NET-Co.

Politically, the Presidents declare Alzwell an “Ally” of the Alliance (they get a representative in the Akton Senate and after 3 months, the senate votes on their full membership).  The green folk of Ayden and Programmers of Middex are declared “Friends”.  The Lex and Klintok are wary of becoming full members (nomadic tribes into a sedentary soon to be market based economy, worried about being dragged into wars, etc) and decline “Ally” status.  The Presidents declare them “Friends”.

The population of Fort Akton is outgrowing its initial army barracks setup.  There are now families with newborns, there are new members who have joined in the past 1-2 months from other badland communities, and many do not want to live in the underground bunker.  The people want to build houses in the nearby village of New Solace, but then their citizenship would change to a separate community.  President Ragnor decides that Fort Akton and New Solace have to be politically merged into a single community “Akton”.  There are constitutional problems, and many radioactivists and senators are initially against the plan.  During the new moon, Ragnor shows his political brilliance, persuading those opposed and creating workable compromises to get the plan enacted.

The former Senators of New Solace keep their offices (to ensure Radioactivist representation).  A new senatorial election is held for the remaining Akton seats (Miata the norfo, Will-Wesley the orlen, and Jimbo the brutorz are re-elected).  Laws are passed to protect religious practice throughout the Alliance, and yet prevent theocracy.  Mother Enya heads the Radioactivist Religion in the village.  Ragnor establishes the post of Sheriff (law enforcement, tax collection, milita captain) for the town of Akton, and appoints Brother Morvus (Radioactivist local favorite).

The month ends the day before the winter Solstice.

You all have up to 5 days (17th at 10AM) to respond under “comments” below.  For this and the next “Pre-Turns”, you may choose your general activities for the month.  Any interactions with others or die rolls can be role-played up to the time limit.  If all of you respond and all actions are resolved (even if you state you do nothing at all) before the time limit, I can start working on the next post that much sooner.   -Nate
